Hallgrímskirkja - at 244ft tall, this is the tallest church in Iceland. It's said to have been designed to resemble the basalt lava flows of Iceland's landscape (Wikipedia). There is also a cool observation area at the top with great views of Reykjavík.
"Toy Town Reykjavík" - from the Hallgrímskirkja observatory. This effect is not done in photoshop, it's the result of a tilt-shift lens that changes the angle of the focal plane. For this photo, I tilted the lens down and angled the camera slightly down - when done from above, this creates the 'toy town' effect. Tilt-shift's are a great tool for architecture photography, primarily because of the shift - but the tilt function can be a lot of fun too! This concludes my Iceland photo set, hope you enjoyed viewing it as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Grotta Lighthouse, Reykjavik Iceland
Grotta Lighthouse, Reykjavik Iceland. This was as close as we could get due to the summer, bird nesting season.
B&W - DC3 crash site in South Iceland
One last photo from the DC3 crash site in South Iceland.
US Navy DC-3 wreckage - Iceland
One more view from the US Navy DC-3 wreckage. Note: no one died in this crash, so its less creepy than it seems
A closer look at the Icelandic Plane Wreckage
A closer look at the Icelandic Plane Wreckage - US Navy DC-3 fuselage which crashed back in 1973. You can find the GPS coordinates online - all you need is a 4x4 vehicle to get you out to the black sand beach crash site.
While this may look like a car commercial, it's just a view looking back at the rental car. I headed out to see the US Navy DC-3 fuselage which crashed back in 1973. I found some GPS coordinates online - and after a couple miles of off-road, parked and was in photo-bliss. I was the only person for miles - it was one of the coolest experiences being out in the middle of nowhere, by myself, with 360 degrees of natural beauty.
Somewhere between Seljalandsfoss and the Skogafoss
Somewhere between Seljalandsfoss and the Skogafoss. Driving along the ring road, it seems that every couple of minutes there are scenes like this. Iceland is a photographers dream.
"A Letter to Seljalandsfoss" - When I first saw you, things were not ideal - but I told you I'd be back.... and there I was a few days later. I left our home in Selfoss at 6pm on Day 4, by myself with a set of GPS coordinates I found online - they would eventually lead me to an airplane crash site (more on that later). On the way, I stopped at several of the places that we had already visited , to take advantage of the long evening and improved conditions.
Kerið - A 3000 year old volcanic crater lake
Kerið - A 3000 year old volcanic crater lake. I've heard that Bjork has performed on a raft in the middle of this lake, but cannot seem to find it online. If it's true, that must have been pretty amazing to see. This was our last stop on day 3.
Icelandic Horses (3 of 3) - After spending some quality time at Geysir, we headed towards Gulfoss, stopping along the way to watch some beautiful Icelandic horses frolic. Icelandic law prevents horses from being imported and those exported cannot return, keeping the breed pure - a very unique horse and great of fun to photograph - and they are everywhere!
